Quick answers

For Unfold on iPhone

What format does Unfold record?

Unfold captures video with your iPhone upright and creates a centered 16:9 landscape video at 1080p and 30 frames per second. The available camera and zoom options depend on your iPhone.

How do the shutter gestures work?

Tap the shutter to start hands-free recording, then tap again to stop. For a quick clip, press and hold the shutter; recording ends when you release. While holding it, drag toward the lock, zoom, flash, or camera-switch target, then hold over an action until it activates.

Can I switch between the front and rear cameras mid-recording?

When the switch succeeds, Unfold closes the current camera segment, switches cameras, and continues recording. It combines the segments into one landscape video. Expect a brief transition while the camera changes.

Why can I see the preview but can’t record?

Recording needs microphone access as well as camera access. An active call or another app using the microphone can make audio unavailable. End the call or close the other app, then use Retry mic. If microphone access is denied, turn it on in iPhone Settings.

Where does my finished video go?

Unfold saves a finished landscape video to Photos when iOS allows it. A local copy also appears in Recent recordings. If Photos saving is unavailable, the local recording stays in Unfold so you can retry the save or export. Browsing your Photos library is a separate permission from adding a finished video.

What if the landscape export needs a retry?

Your original recording remains in Recent recordings. Open that item and choose Retry landscape export. Until the landscape copy is ready, you can also share the original recording files for recovery.

Which iPhones and iOS versions are supported?

Unfold requires iOS 18 or later and an iPhone with a working camera and microphone. Lens choices and zoom presets vary with the camera hardware supported by your device.
